view was super and we loved the
dock, we spent a lot of time on the
deck enjoying the view. The only
problem we had was the pool was
cold, I do not think your solar
heater was working.
We would definitely stay again
and highly recommend your vacation
home.

"Fun
adventure"
Renting the
houseboat was a unique experience. I was
concerned about the logistics of our
stay, but we were well instructed on the
workings of the houseboat and island,
and felt comfortable there. We went with
our young sons, and they had freedom to
run around and explore - however there
is not any open space on the island.
Most of it is mangrove and there is no
beach, so most of the useable space is
under the metal canopies where the grill
and patio table are. The houseboat is
well equipped, but basic. We didn't do
any cooking, but a generator allows you
to use the
fridge/microwave/toaster/coffeemaker and
there is a propane stove and cooler. A
grill on the island was our main source
of meals. Fishing poles/snorkel
equipment and kayaks were all provided,
and except for the occasional grocery
run, made leaving the island almost
unnecessary. It was a great experience.

"The Best
Honeymoon and Private Island
Paradise!"
We rented this place for our
honeymoon and flew out to Miami and
than rented a car and did a two hour
drive down to marathon where Pretty
Joe Rock Island is located. The
drive by the way is very beautiful
if you are not used to tropical
locales. The place that you have to
park at the dock on the shore where
you take the boat to the island is
the only thing that I can complain
about at all. Don't be to worried
thought the distance to the island
from the mainland dock is only a 1/4
to maybe a 1/3 of a mile the boat
ride only takes maybe 5 minutes
getting in and out and tied up are
the longest part of the trip. The
house is GORGEOUS and the Island is
beautiful. I can't over state how
great a locale this is. It is a two
bedroom place and me and my wife
rented the whole thing for our
honeymoon, but two couples or a
small family would be more than
comfortable. The island had a few
large live iguanas that were just
awesome to take pictures of and find
in the trees. The island was also
covered with tiny lizards that were
every where. You could Kayak right
off the island. You could Snorkel
right where you were or take the
boat and find a nice secluded reef
to explore. I went to a Caribbean
island once before but this was a
much better experience. Plus with
it's location on highway 1 you can
get to key west attraction easily
and also see great wildlife
attractions like Theater of the sea
and other wildlife rescue
operations. You can also find all
the great shopping you could want in
the area. If you like beaches the
Island is on Coral Reef and doesn't
have one (you should bring water
shoes because it can be sharp) but
you can find many in the immediate
area and George the island Caretaker
provides local knowledge of great
places to eat and visit on your stay
if you ask him. The house has all
the amenities you could ask for and
the hot tube is a great pleasure!
The house also has AC units, Fans,
Microwave, Stove, Washer Driver,
Dishwasher, Various Smaller Kitchen
Appliances a nice gas grill TV, DvD
players, Stereo, and Fishing
Equipment. You might want to bring
Snorkel equipment. The house was
nice and clean and the linens were
freshly washed.
The wildlife that can be seen just
in the immediate area of the island
is amazing a beautiful. This was
just a great great place to stay if
you are thinking of going to the
keys consider this place!

“Imagine having an entire
island all to yourself. My family just
experienced something we thought you had
to be rich for"
We were hesitant to book this
vacation because it sounded too good to
be true. I never would have believed
that we could rent a 2 bedroom home on
the water, with a boat and an island for
under $2500 for the entire week. 7
nights. We didn’t have to share the
island with
anyone. As far as
the island goes, it was amazing. We
spent a ton of time there. There
was a nice little cabin we could eat in
or play cards in when we wanted to get
in out of the sun. There is a bathroom
on the island. There was lots to do as
well. We used the free kayaks, we went
fishing and caught quite a bit of fish,
we swam and snorkeled around the island
and seen sting rays, lobster, crabs,
etc.., we also seen dolphin swimming out
a little ways. There is a cool Iguana on
the island. He is pretty big and just
hangs out. He will take off if you
approach him, but if you leave him be,
he will get pretty close. As far as the
house, it is very nice. It really has
some cool décor. The second bedroom has
2 full beds in it so my boys each got
their own bed. There was a sofa sleeper
in the living room, but we didn’t need
it because of the 2 beds. The boat was
nice. Probably about a 16’ motor boat
with a canopy top. We also spent a day
in Key West. Duval Street was fun. The
kid’s enjoyed the aquarium and Ripley's
Believe It or Not Museum. Marathon also
has some great beaches to go to. We will
be going back next year and staying here
again for sure.

"Our best
family vacation ever!"
We had such a wonderful time on this
vacation, I just wanted to take the time
to comment on this property. We stayed
during mini-lobster week and had such a
great time diving for lobster off the
island, it was great. We traveled with
several children and this island is the
best place for kids. The kids caught
crabs, fished from the dock, snorkeled
every day, traveled around the island in
kayaks and just had a generally fun time
playing in the mangroves and exploring
the island. They have been talking about
their "private Island" since we got
home. Location was great for exploring
the rest of the keys as well. An hour or
so from key west or key largo, so we
were able to go to both as well as Bahia
Honda park for a great beach. Lots to do
around here for kids. The kids really
liked the Theater by the Sea in
Islamorada. It was nice having the boat
to just run out to the island and back
to the main house whenever we wanted to.
The property manager "Kokomo Joe" really
made our vacation special. He was always
around for advice, to help us with the
boat, he even found us fishing poles for
the kids and helped the kids chop a
fresh coconut up with a machete. They
really thought that was special. The
house is small but very clean and well
maintained, the manager came several
times throughout the week to clean the
outside and the yard and make sure
everything was in order. Having the
washer and dryer was very helpful with
all of the children. It was also nice
having the full kitchen to cook meals.
Not a fancy place but a great base for
your vacation to sleep, cook meals, do
laundry and shower. I definitely would
recommend to anyone with children, they
will love the island. We saw snapper,
nurse sharks, spiny lobster, crabs, sea
urchins, many types of coral and fish
while snorkeling. Caught fish easily off
the dock at the island. No sandy beaches
on the island, but there are several
very close by in marathon if you want.
Coco Plum is a nice beach and they let
dogs go there, Annies Beach in
Islamorada was nice, Bahia Honda is a
white sand beach and good snorkeling for
little kids, and Sombrero Beach right in
Marathon was very nice with white sand
and a playground for the kids. Really a
vacation to remember for us. The kids
haven't stopped talking since we got
home. |

Pam,
We just wanted to send a note to say we
had a wonderful time on Pretty Joe
Rock. The house was really nice (better
than the pictures) and the iguanas
were amazing. Capt. Bob did a great job
and I would like to thank him for coming
out so quickly to take care of the hot
water heater problem. I also want to
thank him and the gentleman he sent out
to help us when our car broke
down. They went above and beyond their
jobs trying to help us and we really
appreciated it.

Thank you
so much for allowing us to rent out your
property. We have officially made that
our BEST vacation yet. We will most
certainly be returning for Candice's
birthday in October and more than likely a
trip before that! Rich was wonderful! We
ended up eating at the Keys Fisheries like
you recommended twice and ate all of our
other meals at home. We ate fish every
night because we caught fish left and
right! We're in the process of purchasing
a boat because of the amount of fun we had
fishing and boating on the little dingy
you guys provided for us. I hope you will
always continue to rent out Pretty Joe
Rock because we can't imagine NOT being
able to go back!! |

It
truly was a unique and wonderful
vacation. We had a wonderful time on
the island over Christmas. Jerry was
very helpful and accommodating. It
was one of the more relaxing vacations
we have had in years, and we even had
a few Christmas carolers who came by
on kayaks!

"The
houseboat fit our needs for the “camping”
we did while we were there. We enjoyed
the open-air feel and “back to nature”
aspect of Charlie’s Island. While I
enjoyed using the fishing poles for
catching some fresh “grunts” for lunch and
dinner on a couple of days, we got the
most use out of the kayaks………..definitely
a nice addition. The location of
Charlie’s Island is very good, also. The
view from most angles is of unpopulated or
developed land or water, and the proximity
to civilization is more of a security
blanket than an intrusion. The week seemed
all-too-short. I’ve already shown the
photos to the folks in my office and they
were very impressed/envious. We’ll
definitely keep this option for vacation
in mind for future occasions." |

wonderful relaxing vacation we ever

fishing off the pier. My husband
fished every day and we have more fish
than we can all eat :-). Our kids also

had the most wonderful time in the keys.
The island was great, we spent most of
the time there, so peaceful. Snorkeling
was very good, we even saw a manatee
swim under the dock, and four dolphins
came up to the dock another day.
Stingrays circled the island every day,
they were very colorful.

had a wonderful time at the two 4
bedroom houses in Marathon---the setting
was beautiful, the houses were spacious
and perfect for our family reunion, and
the weather was unbelievably good.
Everyone in our family (age range 6
months to 78 years) enjoyed our stay;
the houses were great, and there were
plenty of nearby attractions to keep
everyone happy and occupied. We
definitely recommend the houses to
others! It was an unforgettable,
wonderful way to close out the old year
and bring in the new. |
